  Intraocular Surgery
iolIn recent years people have raved over the benefits of laser surgery, particularly when it comes to cataracts in the eye. However, some studies tend to suggest that the latest version of intraocular implants is far safer than laser surgery especially when it comes to improving short sightedness.

Although laser surgery often works well for people who are short sighted, there have been cases where people are actually worse off after the treatment than they were before. Certainly many patients who have had laser treatment for short sightedness or cataracts, later report a sensitivity to light that they did not have before the surgery.

While there is also the occasional problem for people who have had intraocular implants, these incidents appear to be far fewer than among those people who have had laser surgery. Simple, intraocular implants to correct short sightedness may at times be unsuccessful, but the main difference between this type of surgery and the increasingly popular laser treatment, is that it is reversible, when laser treatment is not.

People have either laser surgery or intraocular implants to correct short sightedness or to remove cataracts. While both operations are mostly successful, each has some problems. The main difference that might bring people down on the side of intraocular implants, is that it can be reversed by removing the intraocular implants. It is unfortunate that those people who have had laser surgery that has failed cannot have the procedure reversed.
